COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate Policy

Established over a century ago in 1901, Rocky Nook Bowls is a fun, friendly and inclusive community-focused club.

That means putting the health and safety of our community first by encouraging our members to be vaccinated against COVID-19, so that we can reduce the risk of exposure and transmission of COVID-19.

It is important that we provide our members, contractors and visitors with a safe place in which they can play bowls and enjoy our company.

A safe community is a COVID-19-free community, and currently the best protection against spreading COVID-19 is vaccination.

As a condition of entry to our premises and events anyone aged 12 and over must agree to provide written or electronic evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination certificate to the Rocky Nook Bowls representative on request.

Variations to this condition of entry:

- Evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination received other than in New Zealand will be accepted if the evidence is standard in the relevant country, and it has been accepted by the Ministry of Health.
- A vaccination exemption has been granted by the Ministry of Health.

Rocky Nook Bowls reserves the right to restate its position as we learn and understand more about how New Zealand manages the fight against COVID-19 in our communities and workplaces.

We don’t get to sit on the fence on this matter, as our members and customers will have a right to ask if our bowling club requires vaccination certificates – our community is entitled to know how safe our facilities are (especially hospitality) from covid exposure and transmission.

If only people with a vaccination certificate can use our facility, then under Green, Orange and Red there are no significant limitations to running our bowling club and use of AIS facilities.

If people without a vaccination certificate can use our facility, then: under Orange and Red, our facility will have significant restrictions this summer, including an inability to provide normal Food & Beverage hospitality: under Green our bowling club facility will be able to play bowls and enjoy the bar, but will have some H&S limitations (numbers, distancing).

Additionally Bowls NZ and Auckland Bowls will only use bowling club facilities for National (including high-performance training camps such as we're holding this season) and Auckland Centre events that require a vaccination certificate for club entry.

Subsequently, it is the decision of the Board that all club stewards staff/volunteers/contractors (including F&B) will be required to be vaccinated.
