The greens are typically only open from 1 October to 30 April, please check the calendar on this website for exact dates this season.

Rocky Nook Bowling Club will be happy to arrange bowling activities for your work group, stag do or social get-together and will provide all the necessary equipment and club stewards- even coaching!

There's quite a bit of info below but it hopefully answers most initial questions you'll have before booking. Right, here we go...

FEES:
$20 p/p during our regular public hours of 5-8pm Fri, 1-5pm Sun.
$10 for AIC members and members of Bowls NZ-affiliated clubs on presentation of membership card.
No booking is required to bowl during these times but we recommend emailing bookings@rockynookbowls.nz  if your group is larger than 10 to ensure we can accommodate you and reserve rinks and equipment if necessary.

Outside of these times there's an additional $50 booking fee, with a minimum fee of $400. This includes all bowls equipment and basic bowls coaching if required.

A deposit by bank transfer of the full amount for all players booked is required to secure rinks.

Additional bowlers can be paid for over the bar on the day but by confirming expected numbers it allows us to reserve sufficient rinks and bowls equipment for your group as well as appropriate club members to steward it and ensure a great experience for your guests.

A full refund will be available in the case of cancellation notice of more than 48hrs, or if bad weather precludes play, less a $50 booking fee.

GREENS RULES:
The main requirement is that bowlers must wear flat soled shoes only (no heels) to protect the greens and there is no smoking or drinking on the greens themselves- on the surrounds of the greens is fine.

Children under 13 are not permitted on the greens and must be supervised at all times when outside. Our natural greens must be treated with care and the weight and size of bowls equipment are not appropriate for small hands.   

BOOKING DURATION:
In our experience 2hrs is typically as long as people are interested in bowling at a social event- and all bookings have a 3hr greens limit. Additional time may be available but is not guaranteed particularly in peak season (Nov-Feb). And bear in mind daylight playing hours- we can bowl after dark on our festoon-lit A Green but must still end all bowling by 9pm in consideration of our neighbours.

RNB can assist with helping plan your event whether you just want a fun social or an organised tournament- we can even help you find a DJ!

WILL YOU BE NEEDING BAR, CATERING, OR INDOOR FACILITIES? 
We share the venue with Auckland Irish Club (AIC) who manage the venue rooms and bar. If you require the bar to be open outside of our public hours of Friday evenings and Saturdays 1-5pm a $225 fee to open and clean the bar may be applicable.

NB: All bar and venue fees are payable to AIC; bowls and greens fees are payable to RNB- transferring of charges between the two clubs is not possible...although greens fees can be paid over the AIC bar.

This is a licensed venue- there is no BYO alcohol.
AIC also have BBQ and kitchen facilities (when available) for hire if you wish to self-cater.

If the AIC kitchen is not available then you can cater in to eat outside (pizza, foodtruck, CaterStation, Spit Roast Co., Subway, etc), but this does require checking with AIC first.
