And we're off!

Opening Day, the first club tournament, Twilight Bowls Koanga series and our first of two Have A Go Days have already been and gone and now we hit peak bowls.

You'll read below about the huge number of group bowls enquiries we're fielding- and how memebrs can support the club with this, but the main thing is to get out on your greens and have fun. Bring some friends or whanau when the bar and kitchen are open for public bowls or just roll up any time the greens are open- that's what they're there for :-)

By the way, this is the last newsletter going to last season members so here’s your final invitation to rejoin now, and rejoining members, remember to collect your new membership card from the Match Room :-)

bowls stewarding
From 53 enquiries so far we currently have 28 confirmed group bookings pre-Christmas with a further 10 awaiting deposit/confirmation. That's more than 1400 visitors we're hosting in the next couple of months!

But that also means, to retain this income, we urgently need member help to steward these groups. In most cases we'll need more than 1- up to 5- stewards per day and these will always have at least one experienced steward, so everyone else assisting just needs to take direction for a few hours and help our guests have fun safely.

Thanks to the members who have already popped their name in the stewarding schedule to help the club. As we say, this isn't complicated or particularly arduous- or even require being an experienced bowler!

Basically, if you've ever bowled and shown someone else the basics (short videos of which are on our website) then you'll be able to steward. We just have to have RNB club members on site when the public is bowling.

And of course your contribution earns you a $50 Westfield voucher of club gear to the same value for every session a member stewards- a cheap way to get your club hat, shirt or hoodie!

member coaching
Free member coaching begins next Monday evening!

It's a great way to improve our enjoyment of the game with drills and practice matches and it's free to all members. No need to register, just roll up from 5.30pm- all equipment provided, including club competition bowls.

This season we're trialling split sessions with a separate coach for both novices who want to learn the core skills and more experienced bowlers looking for improvement in specific areas of the game.

Don't forget that every current member who refers a new member this year goes into the draw for an early Christmas present at the final day of the season. So make sure if you do get someone new to join Rocky Nook that they mention your referral in the space provided on the registration form.

one more thing…
Even if you're not taking part in the Thursday night Twilight Bowls series members can still take the opportunity for a roll-up on our revitalised B Green while the bar and Phil's Kitchen are open (*NOT NOV 5TH*).
The kitchen has a range of delicious pub meals (below), all at just $22!

See you on the greens,
Rocky Racoon
