Kia ora {{First Name}},
Sadly, final Club Night of the season on Friday 4th April was a wash-out as the long fine spell came to an end, so no one took home the $250 cash prize.

There's still been plenty of bowls played, though we need a couple more fine days for the Vet's Final and Closing Day social- more info below.

Handicap Singles
This year's competition saw a great number of members enter with a lot of tight matches (several 21-19 games) but more importantly all entrants had enjoyable games, and special thanks to the markers, especially Maree Beckett- one of our 1st year juniors- for doing an awesome job with some really important distance info for our vision impaired Kiwi blackjack international player Gerald.

After 3 rounds in the sun we called it quits for the day with a very tight final on April 2nd seeing Charlie Devlin take the honours over Sean Carroll (above picture)
Congratulations Charlie, for the second year in a row!

1-5Y Any Combination Pairs
More perfect conditions for the 4 teams playing in this year's 1-5 Pairs on April 30th. The format was a round robin of 3 x 10 end games and it came down to the last round game between Tomislav Culav & Morgan McConnell v Richard Fuller & Gordon Cowie

Tomislav and Morgan won this 12-8 playing some fantastic bowls.
This gave both teams 2 wins so it came down to ends won, with Tomislav & Morgan triumphing 19 to 18.

Ngā mihi nui to Jamie (and Mai) who have maintained a quality A green all season.

Auckland 1-5Y Interclub
It was a tough beginning at St Helliers with only the Triples getting a win in the first two rounds, but pleasingly all teams stuck to the task to sweep the last round with 3 wins. Of note were the Triples (Jim, Gordon, Tomislav) who won 2 of 3 games and only went down by one shot in the loss.
Team Kōtare ended the day 15th out of 24 on differential having lots of fun along the way.

Kia kaha!

Veterans Singles
The final- another between between Sean Carroll and Charlie Devlin- is hoping to be played this Sunday- if the weather doesn't spoil it again- greens were in bit of a state after Good Friday storms… see security camera images below…

All members- Full Playing and Limited Playing- have voting rights and we require a quorum of one quarter of Full Members, currently 38, so 10 members must be in attendence. All members opinons and contributions are valid and this is also a celebration of the recent season and the club's success so we would love to see many more.

The meeting will be followed by Club prize giving at 3pm, including presentation of 1st Year Full Member badges and caps to the following members:
Maree Beckett
Donna Black
Roland Davies
Jim Lawn
Morgan McConnell
Matt Pickering
Brady Polkinghorne

Tournament winners will receive their trophies and prize money, as will tournament Runners-up in individual events (not teams). Full list available here- in case you forgot (it's been 6 months since the first tournament!)

Agenda, 2024 minutes and Board election information to follow, but five current Board members are retiring at this AGM, including the current President, Secretary and Treasurer, so we require at least 3 new Board members - a couple more would lighten the load for everyone.

Please consider making a valuable contribution to your club, even for just one season, to build on the many achievements and milestones the recent Board members have made.

Bar will be open for prizegiving and socialising post-AGM with one free drink token per member.

And, as always…
