Kia ora {{First Name}},
It's been a busy month of tournaments and Centre competition, many of which are covered below, but well done to Team Kōtare on narrowly missing the cut for the playoffs of the Interclubb 7's by just .5pt last weekend.

And the big news- it's Club Night tonight and you won't want to by like Jacson last month who missed out on $150 in the member cash draw. So it jackpots to $200 cash for tonight's draw at 7pm. It's another fine evening (and the Blues don't kick off until 7.35 this week) so why not come down for a rollup with a couple of guests for free and be onsite to see if your name is drawn?

club champs results
Champ Singles
Under hot, dry conditions, 10 members competed in the club Champ Singles- Men on Saturday 8th. Gradually the field was whittled down to a repeat of last year’s final between Richard Fuller and Sean Carroll. And it was a titanic battle but after a mammoth 25 ends Sean overtook Richard to lift the Hodgson Cup. Whakamihi, Sean!

And in the Champ Singles- Women the following day, with 3 players competing it was decided to use a round Robin format. And with all 3 on 1 win and 1 loss it came down to point differential. So congratulations to Teresa Cowie who pipped Puna Paratoa by 1 shot, with Sandra Drake as second runner up.

Champ Pairs was held 22nd February and the Men's tournament was won by Charlie Devlin and Gordon Cowie, while the Women's was won by Teresa Cowie and Puna Paratoa.

Thanks to the Match Committee and markers for their contribution and to all participants of the tournaments.

(BELOW) Champ Pairs- Men winners, Gordon and Sean. Only pics I have, sorry.

coaching
We're rapt with how popular free member coaching has been this season and with the weather being so good it's another excuse to improve our enjoyment of the game with sme drills and practice matches- just ask the Twilight Bowlers who've been taking advantage of the opportunity.

It's free to all members. No need to register, just roll up from 5.30pm- all equipment provided, including club competition bowls.

raumati twilight bowls3five
The pics above are from the final night of the series last night. More pics here.

Whakamihi/Congratulations to Western Stings who, after many attempts- including being runners up in spring, have ended a series undefeated to win the 2025 Koanga Twilight Bowls3Five, $300 cash and entry into this season’s Auckland Twilight Bowls Final at Mt Albert on April 6th, along with the Koanga/Spring series winners, BowlBags.

On another fine, though cooler (the sweatshirts and jackets fiinally came out!) evening Team Wormwood Motors defeated Madness in the other top of the table clash to be runners up, followed by I’m Keen and Can’t See Jack, who leapfrogged Madness to complete the top 5.

Various teams won spot prizes of gift vouchers from Full Time Sports Bar & Eatery, The Classic : Comedy Club, Auckland IRISH CLUB, and free entry into the Raumati/Spring series in October.

Ngā mihi nui to outgoing Match Director, Chris Dewar, for his many years of sterling service and to the other members who helped put on the series. Also to our series sponsor, Full Time Sports Bar & Eatery, the best place to watch streaming sport!

Registration is open for the next series on the Comps page of our website and memberships taken out now run through until the end of next season- so March to May are free!

one last thing…
The Match Room door lock has been a bit sticky recently- though it is locking and locking. So it's been lubed and will hopefully come right over the coming days, if not, we'll get it replaced.

Ka kitē,
