Kia ora {{First Name}},

We're well into the season now and the gorgeous weather is making for some challenging tournament conditions but great balmy evening sessions! The first Club Night of the year last Friday saw 14 members and a visitors enjoy the conditions though one member who wasn't in attendance was Jacson Kluts who's name was drawn in the member cash draw for $150….

The next draw on March 7th will therefore jackpot to $200. All members might want to be there for that!

club champs results
Champ Mixed Pairs on 2nd Feb was won by Simon Cameron and Teresa Cowie with 3 wins and 20 ends from a field of 8 teams. Runners-up were Gordon Cowie and Sandra Drake with 3 wins 18 ends so obviously swapping partners agreed with them!

And in third place, also unbeaten but with 17 ends, were Richard and Evie Fuller.

Then, under hot, dry conditions, 10 members competed in the club Champ Singles- Men on Saturday 8th Feb. Gradually the field was whittled down to a repeat of last year’s final between Richard Fuller and Sean Carroll. And it was a titanic battle but after a mammoth 25 ends Sean overtook Richard to lift the Hodgson Cup. Whakamihi, Sean!

In the Champ Singles- Women was won by Teresa Cowie with her, Puna Paratoa and Sandra Drake each winning a game but Teresa taking out the event by 1 point on differential. (No pics sorry)

Whakamihi congratulations to all in what would have been testing conditions, and ngā mihi nui to the March Committee on all events.

Picture below feature Sean and Richard with their mammoth tussle (Teresa and Sandra had a similar duration battle); Mixed Pairs winners Simon and Teresa and Runners Up, Sandra and Gordon.

coaching
Turn out for Monday night coaching has been great this season, averaging ten members a night- including Twilight Bowls3Five series non-members (though they won't be for long :-).

It's free to all members and speak to anyone who's participated and they'll tell you it doesn't just improve their enjoyment of the game but is also a great opportunity for more friendly competition on the greens at the best time of day. No need to register, just roll up from 5.30pm- all equipment provided, including club competition bowls.

Remember, Thursdays, until March 6th (except Waitangi Day), members can take advantage of having the bar and kitchen open for Twilight Bowls to have a rollup on spare rinks on B green. No need to book, just rock up with you mates or whanau and use any available rinks.

Post series we have a one-night, mini twilight bowls3five tournament on March 13th open to anyone and registration is open now by clicking the image/link below.

one last thing…
Wednesday afternoon roll ups featured in the club calendar are not currently running, but if anyone is interested in meeting up on Wed afternoons- or any time outside of scheduled events- posting on our What's App group or even the Facebook page is a good way to put the call out for company.
